Accessorizing
This page is about accessorizing -- you know, jewelry, shoes, scarves, that sort of thing. However, since not everything looks right on every body, we thought we'd break the major stuff like jewelry down into what looks best on your body type. To use this page, then, look up your body type (or the nearest) down below, and read the info next to it.
athletic

Jewelry
Long or wide earrings with larger geometric designs, choker collars, these all work. If you wear pearls, wear them close around your neck. The big looks good on you. Avoid the dainty and delicate: it will look lost on your athletic upper torso. Don't wear pendants or necklaces that hang down upon your bust area: they will make you look wider on top. Bracelets as you please.

Scarves
A good idea, but wear them vertically to streamline your look. Your shoulders are already large enough.

Shoes
You can choose from high to flat, or narrow to heavy. Just avoid spikes, little buckles, and all other dainty fluff.

Gloves
They are an option.

Hourglass, or Curvy

Jewelry
Pearls, or precious and semi-precious stones on delicate mountings all look good on you. Wear your pearls close around the neck. Chokers are fine. Mid-length or shorter earrings are fine. No brooches. And if your bust is too big, no pendants, just a fine necklace that sits above your bust line.

Scarves
Wear them as you wish.

Shoes
Delicate, feminine shoes: pumps, spikes, open toed with dainty ankle straps-- they all look good on your small ankles.

Gloves
Always an option.

Round About the Waist
roundabout

Jewelry
Long earrings, especially if your hair is up. Long necklaces that drop down into your bust and complement the deep neckline of your dress. Pearls worn the same way. Precious and semi-precious stones are your best bet. Clunky wooden, plastic, or metal jewelry is a definite no-no.

Scarves
Extra long scarves, draped vertically, will make you look longer and downplay your middle.

Shoes
Your legs are probably slender and shapely. Most shoes will complement your legs. However, it's best to avoid heavy buckles and assorted fluff.

Gloves
They are an option but may not be your best one.

straight

Jewelry
Medium-sized earrings-- stone clusters, geometric designs-- look best on you. Wear your necklaces medium length, that is, below the collarbone but above your bust line. Bracelets are always a nice touch. Brooches look good, too.

Scarves
Vertically draped scarves will make you look longer. Don't wrap them around your neck-- it might make your neck look short.

Shoes
Just about anything goes because your legs are almost certainly shapely. Just don't go for too-dainty shoes with lots of details.

Gloves
They are an option.

Pear Shaped w/a Defined Waist
pear with a waist

Jewelry
You probably have a long neck, so choose earrings that flatter it-- hoops, studs, small clusters, and classic drops are all fine. Necklaces in pearls, precious metals or stones, to be worn short, though not necessarily choker height. Keep your brooches high. Stay away from the clunky stuff; the more refined and delicate, the better it will probably look on you.

Scarves
Wear them horizontally. They make your shoulders look wider that way and help balance your top and bottom.

Shoes
Don't wear anything heavy-looking, since it might further accent your wider hips and thighs. No horizontal lines such as ankle straps-- they shorten the look of your legs. Keep the shoe open and low-cut if possible.

Gloves
They are a flattering option, yes.

pear without a waist

Jewelry
Bright earrings and necklaces will keep people's attention on your face. Wear your necklaces no lower than the collarbone, your brooches high. Stay away from pendants and long strings of pearls since they might drive people's eyes down toward your middle. Don't choose jewelry that's too tiny since it might look lost on you.

Scarves
Definitely wear scarves. Kept vertically, they will lengthen and slim your figure. Draped loosely around your neck they will help balance your top and bottom.

Shoes
Don't wear anything heavy-looking, especially if your calves are heavy-- it would only make you look thicker. No horizontal lines such as ankle straps-- they also shorten the look of your legs. Keep the shoe open and as low-cut as possible, and keep the heels to medium height-- flats are out, and spikes would not be flattering.

Gloves
They are an option.
