Prom Tips for Choosing Prom Dresses or Formal Gowns That are Right for You
Style Tips from Miss America
Miss America didn’t earn her crown without displaying plenty of style, and Miss America Teresa Scanlan shared a number of her style tips with People magazine.
Don’t overdo. Big areas where Miss America warns not to overdo are the skin and accessories categories. Scanlan says you don’t need to show loads of skin to be beautiful or even sexy, and she learned not to overload on accessories when she had to balance them out with the crown.
Wear things that make you confident. Even though Miss America gets dolled up for every event, Scanlan said she tried to keep her styles as down-to-earth as possible. She told People magazine that having a look women can copy on a daily basis is important to her. This doesn’t mean you can’t go all-out in an elaborate gown, it just means you have to be comfortable wearing it.
Get creative with your hair and makeup. Just because you are glammed up for an evening out doesn’t mean you have to pull your hair into a ho-hum bun. Nor do you have to let someone else have all the fun doing your hair and makeup.
Scanlan did her own hair and makeup while traveling for her gig, and she most enjoyed the freedom to play around with it. Play around with your own look, preferably far before the big night, to see where your creativity takes you!
These super tips from Miss America can work for prom, or any formal event, with a focus on being creative, being confident and, best of all, being yourself.
