To Balance Your Look
You want to:

1. Make your neck look longer and more slender

V-necks or other elongated necks will help lengthen your neck, especially if you show a little cleavage.

Do keep ruffles, bows, ribbons and other trimmings away from your neckline, since they will only make you look clunky up there. Avoid heavy or wide necklines, as well as contrasting colors, since they will all attract attention where you don't need it.

2. Make your torso look longer

Don't go near fitted tops since they will only make your torso look wider.

Keep all details in this area to a minimum-- belts & other ties are totally out.

Drop waists help lengthen the look of your torso.

Trumpet skirts are often a good idea (if you're not too short) because they literally put you on a pedestal, lengthening your figure.

Vertically worn scarves are a great idea because they lengthen you and keep the eye travelling up and down, or focused on your face instead of across your middle area.

3. In general

Select dresses with strong vertical lines and some flare (especially in the hip & skirt area!). Keep the upper part of the dress free of ornamentation, and shoot for long and deep necklines. You'll be surprised at the range of dress types you can wear if you just keep it simple and open necked!
