I hated school dances, and seeing everyone in skanky clothes so... me and my friends planned our own prom... the theme was MODEST IS HOTTEST is was so awesome. The best dance i have ever been too!

-- From Kandee, , Excelsior Springs MO

our theme was canyland and we had lilipops and the characters on the game bored on the walls and we used rainbow colors

-- From , ,

I am soooo excited about this year's theme! We just voted on it the other day, and it's going to be "The Roarin' 20's!" We'll think of a better name and stuff, but it's gonna be great. We're planning on making the concession area look like a speakeasy bar, and having the lights really dim throughout the place to make it look like a 20's jazz club. We're also going to combine it with a city theme, so there'll be more decorations. We're planning on booking a jazz ensemble to play near the entranceway when people walk in. I can't wait to start PromWorks! We did a good theme last year too, "Pirates of the Caribbean." They built a cave with a treasure chest inside, a dock area, and did murals all of a pirate ship, with lots of exotic plants. It was pretty sweet. And the year before that was "A Mid-Summer Night's Dream," and before that, a Hollywood theme.

-- From Kennis, Kent Roosevelt High School, OH

Our theme for prom this year is *Havannah Nights*. Very hott!

-- From Megan, Bishop O' Dowd, Alameda CA

This year the formal (NZ version of Prom) comittee hasn't announced the theme yet, but one we had a few years ago was "A Night in Moulin Rouge" which was pretty cool. We've also done the typical "Winter Wonderland" ones and things like that.

-- From Emily, Wakatipu High,

"Paseo de Amor"- Walk of Love

-- From Bridget, Etiwanda, Alta Loma Ca

The theme last year for my school's prom was "A Moment Like This," it was very nice, they decorated it as if they were in a park and they had a fountain, this year the theme is "A Kiss From A Rose" it is going to be so elegant!

-- From Beth, ,

our theme this year is really stupid & like everyone is so mad about it. it is called "indian gardens" sorta' like in aladdin

-- From , Bottineau H.S, Bottineau ND

Our theme for our prom this year is Bon Voyage; it is a cute theme because our prom will take place on a boat. The invitations will be passports and we will be able to put i-zone picture stickers in it. After the prom we will hang out on City Island for a little bit playing a game similar to that of the great race, where we will get into groups of four and sent on a scavenger hunt all over the Island. I am so excitied!

-- From Ashlee, New Covenant Christian, Lebanon PA

A night at the oscars, Pharoah Splender (egyption,)...just to name a few

-- From milo, IHM, Cicero IL

OKay so i'm in grade 8, not really prom but grad, anyways the theme is Las Vegas! it will totally rock because it's gonna be like a cokctail party and it works because we're all totally dressed for it! Also we came up with Glitz & Glam which would have been fun too with all the sparkles and stuff!

-- From Tori, CCPS, Caledon On

our school has always had voting for a theme song, this year there were so many choices, my choice was "forever young", but insted my voted along with my other fellow lunch table sitters were out voted with a song by green day " time of our lives" which was my second choice so i am happy and not that is our theme... and our theme song or somthing like that.

-- From Holly Kuehnke, RAHS, reedsburg WI

This is my first prom 2005. Our theme is a night under the stars. Everything is blue with a big moon and star on the ground and stars hanging from the ceiling. It's going to be pretty when we start decorating.

-- From Courtney, Ferriday High School, Ferriday La

the theme is a night in paradise and it's decorated with tiki torches and water founrains the dj stand is a neat tiki hut and everyone gets a lay

-- From savannah, carlisle county high, bardwell ky

in my school the theme is a song, so my junior year i named the theme it was "Always and Forever" by Heatwave...its a very nice song its kind of old but still its a great theme and song. i recommend that song

-- From Eugene, Somerville High, Somerville NJ

Somthing to remember. Our school colors are red and white but dont have to be that color. Something not to classy but not to oldie. A elegant prom.

-- From Moya Marks, Northside High School, Fort Smith AR

Last year as a junior we decided to have Mardigras as a them. It was really nice. We used green, purple, and gold as the main colors. I think that was the best theme yet at my school. This year the juniors picked something awful. A Western theme. Most of the juniors and seniors didnt like that idea. So we all decided to write a petition and get it changed. It is in the process now. We are trying to get it to be Hawaiian, and get real hula dancers. I think it would be fun. Oh yea,EVERYONE have a very nice and fun prom this year. Cause Seniors this is our last one. Make it the best!

-- From Ashlee, Indiahoma High School, Lawton Ok

Our theme this year is "For your eyes only" its a James Bond theme. The only colors are black and white with red roses as accents. we also got an Aston Martin to be parked in the lobby for everyone to have their picture taken in. The hotel that is hosting prom is making us an ice sculpture that says 007. And we got our tech theaterdepartment to make us large cut out shillouettes

-- From Ian Miller, Chapel Hill High School, Chapel Hill NC

Well we don't really have a theme yet, but I think that a "havannah nights" theme would rock. We can have the whole cuban club scene with " dance like this " as our theme song. Now that's hott!

-- From Sarah, Parkview Highschool, Lilburn Ga

Our theme last year was "Enchanted Forest." The whole gym was decorated in pale purple and white. There was a castle with a big, realistic looking dragon guarding it. We also had a waterfall and balloon trees. One side of the gym had a huge clock tower that read midnight. The upper balcony had decorated tables and there were lights and tiny mirrors strung from the ceiling to make it resemble a fancy restaurant. All the decorating took about a week but turned out really good. This year the theme is something to do with Paris and should turn out really good also!

-- From TJ, CCHS, VA

Our theme is Diamond Dreams which i think will be the cutest since this is my Junion Prom and we have so great ideas fo so i hope it'll be a wonderful night

-- From Ashley, Varina High School, Richmond Va

This year our school is going for "Red Carpet Affair"....I like it...it's kind of scandalous...it was a tough choice......."Under the Sea" and "On Top of City Lights" (A roofttop theme) were in the running too....

-- From Kyra Ann, BHS, Beaver OK

Our prom theme this year is "Mardigras Madness" its gonna be awesome...we have a bunch of beads to thow off the second floor...and kool lookin masks!

-- From Jessica Eads, RULH , Ripley OH

We just picked our prom theme "Summer Romance" I think it'll be cute. But we went through a lot of ideas which I thought I'd share. "Wine and Roses" was a particular favorite, but we can't do anything dealing with alcohol, they think it promotes drinking. A cruise theme, a walk in the clouds, hollywood, vegas, carribean theme, a circus theme(we have some strange people at my school), mardi gras, one of my friend's school is doing "A Knight to Remember" which is realy cute, with the whole knight in shining armor deal.but yeah, those are some of the one we decided not to use, maybe someone else can

-- From Ashley, Brookville, Lynchburg Va

Our school usually does themes with a slow song. This year is "Take My Breath Away" with other songs including "A Moment Like This", "Could Not Ask for More", and "I've Had the Time of My Life".

-- From Cally, , Philadelphia PA

If anybody has any wicked ideas for sweet 2005 prom htmes let me know at caissiebx01@edu.pe.ca Thanks, Ae Cowboy

-- From AeCowboy, Bluefield High School, North Wiltshire PE

Our theme last year was "A Night in Paris" and it wasn't that great because it wasn't something you could have much fun with. This year's is "Famous Couples" and I'm stoked!

-- From Kendy, Great Falls High, Great Falls MT

Some of the themes that we have had at my school have been..."a walk on the wild side"(jungle), "A big night in a big city"(paris, new york etc.) and "Dancing in the Moonlight" RIght now we are trying to decide on a prom theme, we want something fun instead of the traditional....any suggestions?

-- From Gabby, SHS, Sterling Heights MI

We will have a "hollywood" theme, but nothing that actually says "Hollywood." Since this is the first year for a "reception" for the parents, we will have the parents line the red carpet leading into the country club (they have 45 minutes to view their "stars" before they have to leave), our yearbook advisor will be the "paparazzi" snapping pictures of each couple as they walk by (as will the parents, I'm sure). The principles will be the "bouncers" and will take the tickets of those who have the honor (of either being a junior or senior or date of one of the two). As the attendees walk in, they will be greeted in the hallway with a roll of "film" with pictures that they have submitted of themselves and classmates which are enlarged to fit into the frames of the "film"--which our prom committee is making out of thick black roll paper. The restrooms will have stars on each door designating "Star 1" etc. For those essential moments, we will have hairspray, mints, gum, tissue (for those who have a mishap or excited tearfall) also in the restroom. (Gum in the mens room)--Hey they need fresh breath too!! As they walk into the actual "hall," there will be silver and gold stars lining the walls with each of the senior's names (which they may take home with them at the end of the night). The tables will surround the dance floor and will be decorated with their prom favors (a folding pewter photo key ring, a gold trimmed flute, and a photo favor box). When we introduce the prom court, we will have "movie clips" of those girls and guys taken earlier at school. The queen and king will be crowned. And then finally, the prom will be "covered" with video and they can purchase a copy of their prom memories for $5. The photo backdrop is going to be like an entrance to an old time movie theatre with bulbs surrounding the marquee with "Unforgettable" and "Prom 2005" in black letters on an opaque plastic backlit with silver "tinsel" hanging down behind them so it won't "clash" with anyone's dress. The Art class is going to make the backdrop out of a florescent light fixture and we'll hook a dimmer to it so the lights won't be too bright. It will be enclosed in a black plywood box painted black and will be 3-d so it won't look cheesy, but it will look real. We are going ot have round bulbs surrounding the marquee (like the ones you see at movie theatres). All in all, it is an inexpensive way to have an elaborate theme. We're doing this all for around $5k. The tickets aren't even expensive $15/person to cover the prom favors. I'm very impressed with the prom committee and the lack of "drama" among all students. Maybe thats because this is the first year in 4 that the prom isn't being held in the gym. Juniors and Seniors are happy because they get to have a special night away from the school. The parents are happy because they are involved. The teachers and administrators are happy because the prom is local with no hotels/motels around--and we don't have to have a cleaning crew (big bonus). And I'm happy because I haven't been met with any negativity and everyone is so cooperative. Yea! It's going to be a fun and memorable prom for all involved. (Also, it's not too cheesy romantic that the guys like it and can get into it too.) Yes, the Hollywood thing has been done and it has been done and it has been done some more, but I think that our personal touches and inclusion of "our stars" make it original for us and that's all that matters.

-- From Mrs. D, It's a secret!!! shhhhhhh, Secret City KY

ok...this isnt prom, but it's the annual drill team ball and it was awsome! the theme was "Romance of the Masquerade"

-- From Julie, KO, Spring TX

I head up the pro commitee at my school and i though that out theme "old hollywood" was real clever but i guess that alot of people though the same thing. But i still think that it will be real fun because it is different for us.

-- From Renee, East Wake Academy, Zebulon,nc 27

"ONE MORE NGHT" it was the best time of my live when i went with my girlfriend i tought her how to french kiss.

-- From anthony amoss, Lewiston high school , lewiston ID

"the best is yet to come" frank sinatra

-- From samantha, south oldham, crestwood ky

Last year our Junior/Senior prom-thingy theme was Captured in a dream, with the Eiffel Tower and a glow in the dark moon. No date for me, but I had fun with my friends and made some new ones!

-- From Manda, Wilson Academy, East, nc
