"06 On the Beach"

-- From David, , Miami Fl

Our school is freakishly small, the biggest graduating class thus far is of 45 and will be departing this year. We've begun planning our junior/senior prom, as I'll be a junior I'm on the committee as a sophmore going into my senior year next year. We don't have a massive budget without raising any money, without tickets...we have 2,800, a girl in our class has her dad buying our space for after prom at a health club. We're seriously considering having it at the Embassy Club downtown, the top floor (41 stories). The entire room is covered with windows so you can see for miles including our capital building. We don't know about a theme yet. It should be quite neat we do Grand March as well as a formal sit down dinner.

-- From Rhonda, , Iowa

This year our theme was "You and Me" it was very awsome we had a red carpet and all the girls got roses when they came in and we had valay parking it was really neat...we had a fountain with roses all around it and walk ways made of rock every where! I have to say "MY SENIOR PROM" was all I hoped it to be...i wanted to thank the Juniors at CCHS for the great prom.....CLASS OF 06' ROCKS!!

-- From Ashley, Casey County High School, Liberty Ky

We just had our first prom ever, the theme was THE FIRST NIGHT (predictable, I know). But I had a really good idea for next year--Ancient Love complete with famous couples from history like Zeus & Hera, Antony & Cleopatra, Romeo & Juliet, and whoever else you can think of, colors up to you.

This year our prom theme was Arabian Nights and it was awsome!!. We had it at a catering business with a beautiful waterfall, pond and two gazeebos. We had beautiful white tents that we decorated with gold, deep red, and dark purple fabric. We also decorated it with oriental rugs on the wall and hanging lights. We had pillows that we made for each person with their names on it so they could take it home. Also we had a dessert table with Arabian deserts. It was the best prom ever!!

our school prom is coming this friday may 12th 2006! cant wait! the theme this year is "a touch of class" the gym will be decorated this friday in the morning. the decorations are: the bleachers will be covered in pink and white silk with red streamers, red pink and white streamers on the ceiling, white table clothes, and these columns made from cardboard painted white and pink will go along the walls. the hallway outside the gym is already decorated with streamers on the ceiling and glitter on the floor with tiny pearls. and a poster with the theme written in fancy cursive writing. our prom commitee liked this theme alot, it was a touch of class theme or what a wonderful dreamy night. and they chose a touch of class. we vote for our king and queen and the court on wednsday.

Hey what is up anyway, we are the class of 2008 and we are in charge of prom next year and we are thinking about doing a " RED CARPET ROMANCE " theme, but we do not have alot of money, last year they spent over $8,000.00 dollars and right now we only have $2,500.00. We think it is going to be fun but is that a good theme.

THEME: WINTER WONDERLAND New Zealand is as hard out as American proms (and we call them balls) bbut we still like to go hard with our limited budget. we spend about $500 dollars on deco and last year we really wanted to go as formal and elegant as possible. we decided on WINTER WONDERLAND and we kept it a secret theme (it works out really well coz people dont have any expectations- and we don't dress to the theme really anyway) but yeah, we had white sheets covering all the walls with blue lights shining up them to create an 'icy' effect. then we had all these real pine trees covered in fake snow. Our table were white with a blue thingy down the middle and we had glitter stars and blue pebbles scattered accross. On the tables we had a beautiful bunch of white lillies and our photos backdrop was this beautfil kinda dream-landscape of snow-coated mountains. accross the roof (we only have access to a town hall) we strung lines and lines of white fairy lights along nylon string and it looked like stars. Needless to say we were very proud of ourselves!

-- From Danae Gardner, Mercury Bay Area School, new zealand

It's a bit late, but here's a suggestion from a Prom Sponsor - a theme is NOT the name of the prom. It's what the gym (or where ever you are having your prom) LOOKS LIKE. That's what you come up with first. Then after you have your vision, you choose the name. For example: Arabian nights with it's flying carpet, domed palaces, oasis, palm trees, treasure chests, tents, etc is your theme - "Moonlit Oasis" could be your name!
